Spark partnered with Emirates Team New Zealand (ETNZ) to support their defense of the 36th Americas Cup.
The partnership was centered around demonstrating how Sparks 5G technology was helping the team and boat go faster and they wanted a tangible experience to excite the public on this partnership while providing an opportunity to experience the power and potential of the technology.
The result was a fully immersive digital sailing experience powered by 5G. An interactive world that excites, educates and gets people closer to the ETNZ team and the future world with 5G technology.
Spur was responsible for project delivery, experience design, creative consultation, and ultimately the ongoing operational management and staffing of the experience which has been open for over 7 months. Working closely with the team at Shine, we designed and implemented the base build, transforming a bland open space to one of wonder and intrigue. Partnering with the talented teams at Buildmedia, Satellite and Perceptual Engineering, we then helped to bring the various interactive digital experiences to life, resulting in 7 unique 5G enabled experiences that independently stand alone as world-class. Collectively, the result was a visual, experiential and digital experience unlike anything seen before in New Zealand.
A challenging project without the added complications of Covid 19 lockdowns, and supply chain issues, we and Spark could not be happier with the result and the numbers and feedback are testament to this.
