During the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, Auckland Airport was the gateway to New Zealand. Spur was briefed to create a unique and memorable activation inside the country’s busiest commuter hub, to engage football fans, travelling athletes and visitors to the airport.
We designed a 50m wide welcome message beside the runway, owned the processing corridors and completely re-imagined the arrivals hall. This space was curated to replicate walking out of a players tunnel and onto a football pitch, complete with motion triggered audio featuring cheering/singing crowds and refs whistles. For waiting visitors we created branded grandstands, pitch signage and an interactive digital experience where fans could grab an image in front of their (fluttering) team flag.
